Our elected union Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement early Wednesday morning with the University that provides significant raises, equity, and other improvements for over 7,000 U.C. Service workers. [ download document ]
Our Service Contract calls for the establishment of guidelines to support career advancement at the University. 3299 leaders and UC management have developed the following guidelines. [ download document ]
UC has told UC Staff Unions that they want to bargain now – mid contracts – on employee contributions to the pension. On October 25, UC Staff Unions will meet with the University to express our strongest opposition. Employees who are paid far below-market -- as UC admits we are -- cannot fairly be expected to contribute to the UC pension fund. [ more ]
Although our UC pension is one of the healthiest in the nation and requires no additional contributions until at least 2009, UC has announced they will be asking employees to take an up to 8% pay cut by contributing to our own pensions, beginning as early as 2007. [ more ]
Service workers at all nine UC Campuses, five Medical Centers, and Lawrence Berkeley Labs struck UC yesterday, April 14, 2005, to demonstrate their commitment to a fair contract, and to oppose UC’s failure to bargain in good faith. [ download document ]

On Thursday, March 9, 2006, AFSCME 3299 Members voted overwhelmingly for the Union’s new Strength for our Future program. Strength for Our Future creates our union’s first Strike Fund, improving our ability to Strike if necessary for a fair contract. [ more ]
Formal Bargaining about UC's proposed Paycuts for Pensions Began October 25. In solidarity with the Bargaining teams, thousands of UC workers wore stickers and delivered petitions saying "Hands Off our Benefits!" UC Unions have been forced to cancel the next bargaining session, since UC has not properly sunshined bargaining proposals. UC Unions have repeatedly expressed concern over UC's failure to comply with public meeting requirements. [ more ]
UC’s long term plan is to shift benefits costs to workers. If UC succeeds in completing its planned pay cuts for pensions and health care thousands of workers will be driven deeper into poverty, forced into homelessness or to take their families off healthcare. Here is one worker’s story. [ more ]
On November 29, 2006, the UC Union Coalition Bargaining Team (UCUC) met again with the University regarding UC’s proposed Paycuts for Pensions plan. During the meeting, UC asked employees to trust that the UC Regents and the Office of the President have our best interests at heart. [ more ]
In its third meeting with the University, the UC Union Coalition proposed joint governance, demanding an end to special retirement deals for highly compensated executives, and information about Los Alamos retirement transfers. [ more ]
On January 11, 2007 the UC Union Coalition Bargaining Team (UCUC) met with the University, this time at UCLA, regarding UC’s proposed Paycuts for Pensions plan. At the meeting, the Union Coalition demanded a voice for UPTE HX Workers, and Union Coalition Actuary David Venuti identified significant omissions in UC's analysis of our Pension . [ more ]
On January 30th and 31st the UC Union Coalition Bargaining Team (UCUC) explained their proposal on joint governance of pensions to the University. In addition, UCUC proposed full market equity for UC Workers, and the replacement of CAP I and II moneys withdrawn from the pension in lieu of wage increases. [ more ]
Our March 19 Coaliton Bargaining took place at UC Davis, where, Community Leaders simultaneously held a Workers Rights Board hearing on UC’s Pension Paycuts. Just 4 days before, UCUC Los Angeles delivered 8,000 postcards from UC workers to the Regents. [ more ] |
